A man is under police guard in hospital after a fatal crash at Doonside overnight.
Emergency services were called to Crawford Road about 10pm (Saturday 24 August 2019), after a Nissan Pulsar and a Toyota Hilux ute collided at the intersection of Coveny Street.
An 81-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the utility, died at the scene; an 83-year-old man driving the utility has been critically injured and remains in Westmead Hospital. Both are from Doonside.
A 22-year-old man from Blacktown was arrested and taken to Westmead Hospital to be checked as a precaution and to undergo mandatory testing. He remains there under police guard.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are conducting inquiries.
