The City of Fremantle is inviting the community to participate in an Expression of Interest (EOI) process that will shape the future of the Manjaree Precinct.
The first phase involves the leasing of four units within the J-Shed building for arts and cultural uses as well as the activation of the public realm in front of the J-Shed.
The City welcomes applications from individuals, collectives and organisations who are passionate about creating work that connects people with place.
Director of Creative Arts and Community, Pete Stone, said the opportunity is open to emerging or established artists and cultural practitioners.
“This initiative is about creating genuine opportunities for creatives and cultural organisations at all stages of their practice or business development,” Mr Stone said.
“It is a chance to test ideas, grow practice, and be part of a supportive and connected creative community.”
It responds to an identified need for creative and cultural spaces in Walyalup/Fremantle offering artists, creatives and cultural practitioners the opportunity to experiment, connect and share their work.
These opportunities are designed to support the arts community while creating welcoming spaces for the community to enjoy.
Proposals that create memorable experiences, attract and engage visitors, and celebrate the unique identity of Manjaree and Walyalup/Fremantle are of particular interest.
Successful projects will encourage people to explore the precinct, spend time in the space, and connect with its rich cultural, historical, and creative stories.
This is the first phase of a three-phased project. Phase 2, later this year, will include leasing opportunities in Mrs Trivetts Place and Phase 3, early next year, will include leasing opportunities in Captains Lane.

- J-Shed leases: Units 1, 2, 3 and 4
- Public Realm activations: two spaces within the Manjaree Precinct
