Mayor urges community to Be Kind in Wellington

Wellington Shire Council Mayor Alan Hall has commended the local community for embracing the health messaging of the Covid-19 Stage 3 restrictions and urged residents to always err on the side of kindness.

Council has a Covid Relief Information Line where locals can call for advice and referrals for enquiries about food, accommodation, psychosocial support, medications, transport, shopping delivery services and other locally available services.

A Be Kind Wellington group has also been established by Council on Facebook, where locals can access information and resources about kind things locals are doing for others in Wellington to help them through the pandemic.

“There has never been a more important time to look out for others in our community,” Cr Hall said.

“There are many in Wellington who are struggling with this second wave of restrictions, where everyday life has been disrupted again and our movements controlled.

“In encourage anyone who is unsure how to obtain essential services during this pandemic to contact Council through the Covid Relief Information Line where trained staff will be on the other end of the phone to assist.

“At the beginning of this pandemic, Council also launched the Be Kind Wellington concept via social media as a place to share ideas, information and provide a place where those seeking solace from the pandemic in our community can belong.”

The Covid Relief Information Line is open Monday to Friday, 9am-4.30pm on 1300 137 218.
