MCA Members contribute to Australian bushfire relief

The loss of lives and livelihoods from bushfires across Australia is tragic. Fires have burnt through 5.8 million hectares, destroyed more than 1,700 homes, regional communities have evacuated and some people are missing. The continuing impact on people, communities and their land and livelihood is devastating and widespread across Australia.

A number of MCA member companies have generously donated time, money and services to support regional communities affected by the bushfires.

Uncapped leave for bushfire volunteers and ADF reservists, $100,000 donation and will match employee donations to a range of bushfire charities

Extended paid leave fore bushfire volunteers and ADF reservists, financial dnation to the Australian Red Cross

Minerals Council of Australia

$20,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund

MinterEllison

20 days paid leave for bushfire volunteers and ADF reservists, will match donations made by employees, providing pro bono legal services to those impaced

Newcrest Mining

$400,000 between the NSW Rural Fire Service and the Victorian CFA and will match up to $200,000 of employee’s donations

Orica

$1 million between the Victorian Bushfire Appeal and the NSW Rural Fire Service and will mathc employees donations to a range of bushfire charities

Rio Tinto

$1 million to the Australian Red Cross
