Meals on Wheels – Calling volunteers

Meals on Wheels provides a vital service to assist elderly and vulnerable people to remain independently living in their homes, by delivering nutritious and tasty meals to their front door.

Meals on Wheels is more than just a meal. The volunteers of the service have a positive impact on the lives of many people by delivering the meals with a smile and a friendly chat, which is particularly important for social connection in our community.

Volunteers join Meals on Wheels for a variety of reasons and find it very rewarding.

A volunteer of three years Trevor said, “Being a volunteer with Meals on Wheels enables me to make a contribution to the welfare of our community and to meet people and help create a caring and friendly environment for all of us.”

Naomi said she volunteers with the service because “It’s a great way to touch base with the community, and its lovely seeing how happy the clients are to see me when I arrive.”

Our valued volunteers in the Meals on Wheels team are continuing to deliver healthy meals during the pandemic with COVID-safe practices in place to keep volunteers and clients safe.

The team are now looking for more volunteer drivers to assist with meal deliveries. You must have your own car and a current driver’s license. Full training is provided.
