Police Officer Charged 19 September

On Friday 18 September 2026, a member of the Northern Territory Police Force was charged in relation to offences allegedly committed whilst off duty.

In relation to an incident which occurred on 17 September 2026 at a residential address in Palmerston, the 42-year-old male officer has been charged with aggravated assault and served a domestic violence order.

From an incident on 15 September 2026, the male officer has also been charged with:

  • Possess firearm whilst unlicensed
  • Possess ammunition without permit/licence
  • Possess a prohibited weapon (x2)
  • Possess body armour (x2)

The weapons related offences are unrelated to the domestic violence incident.

He has been bailed to appear in the Darwin Local Court on Tuesday 22 September 2026.

The male officer has been suspended with pay.

The matters remain under investigation.
