Woman charged over alleged meth import concealed in coconut water

A Vietnamese woman is expected to appear before the Downing Centre Local Court today (4 November, 2026) following a joint AFP and NSW Police Force investigation into the alleged importation of methamphetamine concealed in a shipment of coconut water.

The investigation began in December, 2025, after Australian Border Force (ABF) officers located illicit drugs inside a shipping container marked as containing coconut water.

It will be alleged that the shipment contained 800 litres of coconut water mixed with liquid methamphetamine.

The woman, 47, was arrested after a search warrant was executed at a unit in Macquarie Park, NSW on 4 September, 2026. Police will allege the address was linked to the final delivery location of the consignment.

During the search, police located and seized a number of digital devices which will be subject to further forensic examination.

Police will allege the 47-year-old was responsible for funding and coordinating the importation attempt.

The woman was charged with importing a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, contrary to section 307.1 of the Criminal Code (Cth). The offence carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

She appeared before NSW Bail Division Court on 5 September, 2026. She was refused bail and is expected to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (4 November, 2026).

The investigation was conducted by the AFP and NSW Police Force, with assistance from the NSW Crime Commission. Inquiries remain ongoing.
