A 29-year-old Melbourne man charged with allegedly breaching a Federal Court of Australia Control Order is expected to face Melbourne Magistrates Court today (Monday 16 November 2020).
The Victorian Joint Counter Terrorism Team arrested the man at his suburban Melbourne home this morning.
Police will allege the man failed to comply on several occasions with a condition of the Control Order by allowing other persons to use his mobile phone.
He has been charged with five counts of contravening a Federal Court of Australia Control Order, contrary to section 104.27 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth).
The offence carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment.
A Control Order is in force in relation to this individual until 21 January 2021.
The AFP, Victoria Police and partners use Control Orders (CO) and other available legislative measures to ensure the ongoing safety of the Australian community.
