Mini-festival of literary joy

A mini-festival celebrating the power of storytelling and myth in children’s books, with a book launch, will be held at UNE’s Parramatta Campus on Friday 17 November, from 2pm-8pm.
The event brings together workshops, talks, presentations, panel discussions, a musical interlude, and launches a book written by UNE’s Associate Professor Elizabeth Hale and Dr Miriam Riverlea, Classical mythology and Children’s Literature… an Alphabetical Odyssey.
Speakers and performers include:

Dr Ariella Van Luyn and Dr Alina Kozlovski (UNE): Object biofictions: writing workshop using UNE Museum of Antiquities materials.

Ursula Dubosarsky (Australian Children’s Laureate, author of Call Hercules Quick, The Golden Day, and many more novels and picture books) Stella Tarakson (author of the Hopeless Heroes series of children’s chapter books)

Hugh Crago (academic, author of Self and Story in Early Childhood) Tina Matthews (artist, writer, puppeteer, author of Out of the Egg, A Great Cake, and many more picture books, mobiles and friezes)

Lionel Hobden and Jonathan Martinez (musicians – Ode and Melody) Dr Liz Hale and Dr Miriam Riverlea (UNE, authors of Children’s Literature and Classical Mythology… an Alphabetical Odyssey)

The mini-festival will be held at the UNE Parramatta Campus, 211 Church Street, Parramatta.
