ATTENDANCE AT THE 56TH MUNICH SECURITY CONFERENCE

From 14 to 16 February I will attend the 56th Munich Security Conference, one of the world’s pre-eminent security dialogues which brings together global leaders in government, business and academia.

This conference will be an opportunity to highlight Australia’s contributions to international security and represent a strong Indo-Pacific perspective.

I will meet with host Minister, German Minister for Defence Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer to discuss our bilateral defence relationship, including our collaboration on significant defence capability projects such as the Boxer Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles and Offshore Patrol Vessels.

I look forward to meeting with my counterparts from across the globe including French Minister of the Armed Forces Florence Parly; US Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper; Defense Minister of Japan, Taro Kono; NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg and many others, to discuss security issues of common concern.

I will also participate in a panel conversation on Asia to share Australia’s perspective on the security and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific.

The conference will be an opportunity to emphasise the importance of working with partners to respond to common challenges and promote the rules-based order.
