The Tasmanian Government introduced quarterly diary disclosures in 2023 as part of its ongoing transparency agenda.
Following public consultation and analysis of best practice across Australia, the Government will implement a strengthened disclosure framework to ensure the community has greater visibility of Ministerial engagements and decision-making processes.
- Ministerial diaries will now be released monthly, replacing the current quarterly publication cycle;
- Disclosures will be provided in accessible and searchable formats, improving ease of use for the public;
- Opt-in system for all MPs to begin voluntarily disclosing diaries to improve transparency across the Parliament further; and
- Clear minimum standards and defined exclusions will ensure consistency and clarity across all Ministerial offices.
“We are committed to further improving the information the public has access to,” Premier Rockliff said.
“Feedback provided during consultation called for all MPs to publicly disclose their diaries in a similar manner to Cabinet Ministers.
“An opt-in system will be available for all members to begin voluntarily disclosing diaries to improve transparency across the Parliament further.
“I want to thank those MPs who have taken an interest in this matter and provided useful and constructive feedback on enhancing these disclosures.”
