Modelling Respect and Equity – MoRE program

City of Stonnington is working with Jesuit Social Services to present ‘Unpacking the Man Box’, an online session which unpacks societal pressures men and boys face today.

Stonnington City Council Mayor, Councillor Kate Hely said “Outdated gender stereotypes can result in poor levels of mental health, risky behaviour or violence. This session explores how positive role models can help boys and men to find more respect and equality in relationships and in the community. As well as hosting ‘Unpacking the Man Box’, the City of Stonnington will also join the successful Modelling Respect and Equality program to work with passionate community members to make a difference.”

The MoRE program will support participants to foster positive cultural and attitudinal change around what is means to be a man and promote gender equality. Through community engagement, advocacy and effective alliances, this influencer program will provide training to help successful applicants engage, educate and empower men and boys within the broader community. The program addresses the harmful gender stereotypes which are linked to violence against women, and helps participants become active role models for other men and boys.

If you want to learn more about the MoRE program, we are hosting an ‘Unpacking the Man Box’ community awareness session on 1 December 2021.

Expressions of interest for the MoRE program will open on 2 December 2021.
