Moderna Covid vaccine available at selected WA pharmacies

  • People aged 12 years and older can walk in to selected community pharmacies and receive a Moderna COVID-19 vaccination from this week
  • Pharmacy rollout another option in multi-pronged effort for Western Australians to get vaccinated as soon as possible
  • More than 470 WA pharmacies to be included by early October
  • From this week, eligible Western Australians can drop in to selected community pharmacies and receive a free Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, another way to get more Western Australians vaccinated.

Selected pharmacies around Australia received an initial allocation of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses this week, with more to come on board.

Pharmacies in tranche 1 of the Moderna rollout will receive their allocation by the end of this week, while those in tranche 2 are expected to receive doses between September 27 and October 2. A total of 471 WA pharmacies are included across the two tranches.

The Australian Government manages the supply and allocation of COVID-19 vaccine doses. During the remainder of September 1 million Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses are expected to be delivered to participating pharmacies across the nation, with more doses to follow in coming months.

To find a WA pharmacy offering the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, people can visit the Australian Government’s Vaccine Clinic Finder or findapharmacy.

Western Australians aged 12 and older are also eligible for the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine and are urged to visit https://www.rollup.wa.gov.au to book an appointment.

Additionally, until 5.00pm Friday (September 24), eligible people can walk into the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic and get a vaccine without an appointment.

State-run COVID-19 vaccination clinics are available in more than 100 locations across Western Australia, with locations listed on the HealthyWA website. A range of GPs, GP respiratory clinics, pharmacies and Aboriginal Medical Services can also provide the COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 2.2 million vaccinations have been administered to Western Australians across the State. Nearly 60 per cent of WA’s eligible population aged 12 and older has had at least one vaccine dose.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

“Making it easy and convenient for people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 is vitally important as we look to further boost WA’s vaccination rate.

“Having access to the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in selected pharmacies provides another option for Western Australians to get the jab.

“Anyone who is eligible now should get a COVID-19 vaccine to protect themselves, their family, friends and the community.”
