Mona Foma 2022 program announced

Sarah Courtney,Minister for Tourism, Hospitality and Events

The Tasmanian Liberal Government continues to support our thriving arts and events sectors and is proud to have supported Mona Foma since the first event was held in 2009.

Today’s release of the 2022 dual cities Mona Foma program is exciting news with the festival taking place over two consecutive weekends in Launceston (21-23 January 2022) and Hobart (28-30 January 2022).

The dual cities model means that more Tasmanians and visitors will have the opportunity to attend the festival which has become recognised as an iconic Tasmanian summer event.

Large-scale cultural events such as Mona Foma are significant drivers for both intrastate and interstate tourism, boosting our local economy and providing an important platform for Tasmanian artists.

To continue to support the festival’s growth, the Liberal Government recently committed $6.9 million dollars in funding to assist in the delivery of festivals in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

With the border reopening on 15 December, it will be wonderful to see both Tasmanians and interstate visitors take advantage of this diverse program and use the festival as a reason to holiday here and explore all our state has to offer.

I encourage all Tasmanians to make the most of this unique and inclusive festival while supporting our vibrant events industry.

Tickets for Mona Foma 2022 events go on sale on Monday 6 December. https://mofo.net.au/
