Monash University

Monash University has cemented its position as a global centre of education and research excellence, climbing 15 places to 78 in the Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2020.

Monash also moves up one place to equal third in Australia, as voted by leading scholars from around the world.

In the category of Teaching Reputation, Monash gained 25 places to rank 71 in the world, while the University’s Research Reputation improved eight places to 83rd.

The reputation rankings are calculated from responses to the world’s largest invitation-only opinion survey of senior, published academics.

Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner AC said the results were a testament to Monash’s growing reputation for the quality of its research and education to tackle the big challenges of our time.

“These are remarkable gains across all three reputation categories, as voted by our peers in the global higher education sector,” Professor Gardner said.

“I am delighted to see Monash celebrated at the forefront of world-leading education and research excellence, thanks to the unwavering commitment and dedication of our academics.”

The results come after Monash ranked equal 64th in the THE World University Rankings 2021 in September, and achieved a top 100 ranking in nine out of 11 subject areas in the THE World Subject Rankings 2021 in October.
