The Andrews Labor Government is supporting local jobs by teeing up more scholarships for Victorians in the golf industry.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence today announced four more Victorians have secured a grant through the latest round of the Labor Government’s Golf Scholarship Program.
Keeley Marx, from the Heritage Golf Club, is one of the recipients who will receive $7,500 to go towards progressing her player pathway on the Women’s Australian PGA Tour.
The other scholarship grant recipients are:
- Marketing executive Katherine Lambert from Golf Australia, to complete a mini-MBA in marketing to promote golf to women and girls;
- Newly appointed club manager Oscar Morris from Neangar Park Golf Club, to complete a diploma of business; and
- Professional golfer Aiden Didone from the Metropolitan Golf Club, to compete in the Canadian Tour Qualifying school.
Scholarships of up to $7,500 are available in a range of categories including golf administration, player, horticulture and design.
The scholarships are part of the Government’s commitment to a range of golf initiatives throughout the state which also includes $15.3 million for the Australian Golf Centre project at the Sandringham Golf Course.
Golf in Victoria contributes $883 million to the state’s economy and supports 6,900 jobs. This program is part of the Government’s $7.46 million Supporting Growth of Golf Clubs Around Victoria initiative.
