The Allan Labor Government is supporting Victoria’s wildlife vets and nurses who dedicate their time and expertise to care for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.
Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos today announced a $300,000 investment towards Vets for Compassion to ensure they have the tools and equipment they need to continue their critical work in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation.
Vets for Compassion are a volunteer group of veterinarians and veterinary nurses who provide emergency medical care, rehabilitation and essential support for native animals in need.
This funding will help Vets for Compassion continue to deliver vital veterinary care to animals in need across the state and continue their 24 hour a day call out service.
The announcement follows a boost in funding for Victoria’s wildlife rescue volunteers, with applications now open for grants of up to $3,000 as part of a $300,000 investment through the latest round of Wildlife Rehabilitator Grants.
Since 2015, the Labor Government has invested $6.3 million to support the work of foster carers, authorised wildlife shelter operators and key wildlife organisations – building on a historic $609 million investment in Victoria’s iconic environment.
As stated by Minister for Environment Steve Dimopoulos
