The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), in conjunction with the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), is planning two more hazard reduction burns this weekend in Myall Lakes and Coorabakh national parks.
NPWS Manning Great Lakes Area Manager Steve Smith said the Steinmetz hazard reduction burn in Coorabakh National Park 30 kilometres north of Taree and the Southern Boundary hazard reduction burn in Myall Lakes National Park north of Hawks Nest will take place Sunday 1 August.
Both burns aim to provide fuel reduced zones to help protect the parks and neighbours from summer bushfires.
NPWS crews will be working on Mungo Brush Road to implement the Southern Boundary burn and on Big Nellie Road for the Steinmetz burn.
People are reminded to use caution driving along roads in the area.
All burns across New South Wales will continue to be coordinated with the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) to ensure the impact on the community, including from smoke, are assessed at a regional level.
