The Carroll Labor Government is delivering more homes and open space at the former Kingswood Golf Course.
Minister for Planning Sonya Kilkenny today approved 932 new homes and 10 hectares of open space for residents.
The development will also deliver multiple playgrounds and kilometres of trails and nature corridors.
The site has been closed since 2018.
The development will be built in stages. Stages will only proceed to construction once infrastructure is delivered.
The project will deliver at least 10 per cent affordable housing.
20 per cent of the site will be dedicated to green open space.
The plan has been shaped following extensive consultation with locals, Kingston Council and Melbourne Water.
Community feedback has helped to shape the development plans, including identifying a safer walking connection between the site and Marcus Road through to Dingley Village Primary School.
The project will also require updated flood and drainage modelling to satisfy both council and Melbourne Water requirements.
Hundreds of trees will be retained and thousands of new trees will be planted as part of the development.
The location is close to services and transport connections including schools, early childhood centres, multiple bus routes and the recently upgraded Mordialloc Freeway.
