Libraries Tasmania have begun a staged approach to easing COVID-19 restrictions with a successful trial of a modified approach to borrowing at the Launceston Library this week.
The ‘Click & Collect’ service means members can browse the online catalogue, place holds and collect items from the library during specified hours.
While our libraries are not yet open for general browsing and visiting, the Click & Collect service has been introduced to give members what they are most asking for, which is the ability to borrow again.
Five more libraries will begin offering the new Click & Collect service next week including:
- From next Monday, 25 May, the service will be available at Burnie Library;
- From Tuesday, 26 May at Devonport and Glenorchy Libraries; and
- From Wednesday, 27 May Hobart and Rosny Libraries.
Members will be notified by email or telephone when their items are ready for collection, and are able to pick them up from the library on weekdays, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Additional services will be gradually introduced in June 2020 as part of Stage Two of the Tasmanian Government’s Roadmap to Recovery.
Libraries Tasmania continues to offer an expanded range of online services and the public can continue to access an increasing range of online resources, including eBooks, eMagazines, eFilms and eNewspapers.
