The Tasmanian Government has welcomed nine new paramedic recruits, delivering an important boost to the State’s ambulance workforce.
Six new paramedics will be based in stations across the North West, one in the North, and two in the South.
Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing, Bridget Archer, welcomed Tasmania’s newest paramedics.
“These paramedics will play an important role in delivering life-saving care to the Tasmanian community,” Minister Archer said.
“We are pleased to welcome this cohort of nine qualified paramedics to Ambulance Tasmania, with each bringing a significant and diverse amount of experience.”
The new recruits have moved to Tasmania from interstate or overseas, including three paramedics who have relocated from Europe and the USA, bringing a combined 59 years’ knowledge and experience practicing paramedicine between them.
Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, the Government is continuing to grow paramedic numbers in the State.
“This latest cohort is in addition to the 45 paramedics who have already begun their careers in Tasmania this year,” Minister Archer said.
The paramedics are currently going through Ambulance Tasmania’s four-week induction program, which provides hands-on training to ensure they are well-prepared and supported to deliver emergency care in the Tasmanian community.
After completing the program, the paramedics will be deployed across the State where they will receive on-the-road mentoring and support as they transition into their roles
