More traders welcomed to Belmont Market

The City will increase opportunities for traders by opening all of Belmont Market’s outdoor stalls from this Sunday.

A further 59 outdoor stalls can now be reopened, following a further easing on gathering limits under Victoria’s COVID-19 restrictions.

The market has been offering 151 outdoor stalls since reopening in October, with high demand seeing them booked out weeks in advance.

The changes will allow up to 210 stallholders to offer a variety of wares and cater to larger summer period crowds.

Between 4000-5000 people have been attending the free Sunday market in recent weeks, as the weather has warmed up and COVID-19 restrictions have eased.

To meet social distancing requirements and to maintain a COVID-safe environment for stallholders and visitors, the City will keep the indoor section closed.

The market will be open every Sunday this month except 27 December. It will return on Sunday 3 January 2021.

Stallholders offer a range of goods such as new, pre-loved and vintage clothing, jewellery, homewares, toys, crafts, fresh fruit and vegetables, plants and flowers and other treasures.

Bookings for casual outdoor stallholders can be made online via www.geelongaustralia.com.au/belmontmarket

‘On the day’ casual bookings are not available.

Greater Geelong Mayor Stephanie Asher

The Belmont Market is going from strength to strength and it’s great to be able to welcome more stallholders from Sunday. Crowd numbers have risen strongly in the past month and we are mindful of providing more opportunities for traders and shoppers alike. The ongoing health and safety of our stallholders and patrons is our top priority and the team will continue to provide a COVID-safe environment.
