Multi-agency search to continue for paraglider, NSW

A search will resume tomorrow for a paraglider reported to have crashed off the coast near Wollongong.

About 2pm (Saturday 11 June 2022), a multi-agency search operation commenced at Woonona Beach, just north of Wollongong, following reports a paraglider had crashed into the water about 200m offshore.

A search involving officers attached to Wollongong Police District, PolAir, Marine Area Command, Westpac Helicopter and Surf Life Saving NSW, commenced immediately.

Despite the extensive efforts of all involved, nobody was located, and the search was postponed about 5pm (Saturday 11 June 2022).

The multi-agency search will continue from 8am tomorrow (Sunday 12 June 2022).

Police are urging anyone with information or who may have witnessed the incident, to call Wollongong Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
