Audiences and visitors across NSW will soon experience even greater arts-related activities and events, made possible through Round 2 of the NSW Government’s Arts and Cultural Funding Program for 2021-22.
More than 120 individuals, groups and organisations funded through the program will share in almost $5 million that will support an exciting range of art forms including music, dance, theatre, festivals and literature.
Minister for the Arts Ben Franklin said the funding will deliver strong arts and cultural experiences and provide a critical boost to the state’s talented artists, cultural workers and organisations.
“This latest round of funding will provide artists and cultural organisations the confidence, support and opportunities they deserve so they can continue to do what they love,” Mr Franklin said.
“The projects funded are projected to employ over 8,600 artists and be seen by more than 13.5 million people. This includes a strong increase in support for regional NSW, as well as considerable investment in First Nations and Western Sydney initiatives.
“The arts play a significant role in our economic and social recovery and I am so proud to be announcing this funding today.”
All applications funded through Round 2 were assessed against published criteria and ranked in order of merit by the Artform Advisory Boards with a full list of recipients available here.
Dharug artist Leanne Tobin said receiving funding through Round 1 of the program enabled her to fully realise the ideas she had only dreamt of.
“Through the program I was able to utilise new disciplines such as animation and glass sculptural works, which helped strengthen my voice and empower my message. I am so grateful for the opportunity,” Ms Tobin said.
The combination of Round 1 and Round 2 2021-22 Arts and Cultural Funding Program outcomes will deliver over $14 million in support for the arts and cultural sector.
