Multiple calls to Triple Zero results in Benalla arrest and impoundment

Benalla police have charged a man with reckless conduct likely to cause serious injury after he was allegedly detected travelling at 178km/h on the Hume Freeway at Benalla last Friday.

Police received numerous calls from motorists travelling between Seymour to Benalla alleging the car, a late-model silver Camry, was overtaking on the incorrect side and travelling at excessive speeds around lunchtime on 28 February.

The car was intercepted by police and the driver, a 24-year-old Hoppers Crossing man, was also been charged with speed dangerous, exceed speed limit, drive while disqualified and commit indictable offence while on bail.

The man’s car was also impounded for 30 days.

He has been bailed to appear at the Benalla Magistrates’ Court on 24 April.
