Multiple offences, Murarrie and Tingalpa

A 29-year-old man is assisting police with inquiries following a string of offences this afternoon across South Brisbane.

At 5pm, officers were called to Murrarie following reports a man had caused damage to a building on Lytton Road with his car.

It was then reported he had approached several children on Wodonga Street before he fled in his car after he was scared off by adults in the street.

From here the man drove dangerously along Wynnum Rd to a service station at Tingalpa where he assaulted people in the forecourt of the business and damaged vehicles in the parking area.

The man then attempted to force entry to the service station.

Officers were called to the service station where the man was located, armed with a metal bar and he was taken into custody just after 6pm.

He is currently under police guard at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Detectives would like to speak to anyone who may have seen a metallic blue Holden Commodore station wagon driving erratically on Wynnum Road who may have dashcam of the area at the time to contact them.

It is believed the station wagon may have crashed into members of the public on Wynnum Road and officers are asking these people to come forward.

Investigations are continuing.
