Mumbai announced as host city for 2022 FDI World Dental Congress

Mumbai, India’s second most populous city, has been announced by the FDI World Dental Federation (FDI), as the host city for the 2022 FDI World Dental Congress (WDC) which will be co-hosted with the Indian Dental Association.

Drawing on the theme, “Reunite and Rebuild Dentistry in the City of Dreams”, it is planned that the 2022 WDC will be the first in-person event since the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 event, scheduled for Shanghai, China, and the shift to a virtual special edition for the 2021 event, hosted by the Australian Dental Association.

The WDC, which FDI describes as “a flagship continuing-education event for FDI, strengthening ties and fostering collaboration within the global oral health community”, is envisaged as a unique meeting opportunity for the global dental profession and it is hoped that the 2022 WDC will permit this in-person meeting between colleagues and with the leaders of the oral health profession to take place once again.

The 2022 congress will “deliver a cutting-edge scientific programme, interactive forums, and a dental exhibition attended by the most prominent figures in the dental industry” with a focus on bringing together the dental profession and the dental industry which FDI notes is “is even more important today, as new materials and technology are developed to accommodate the latest treatment philosophies.”
