Murder charge after stabbed man dies in hospital in South Grafton

A man has now died, and another man has had his charges upgraded to murder, after a stabbing at South Grafton on the weekend.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District have been told two men were arguing in the home on Gardenia Way about 3.40am on Saturday 5 January 2019, when one was allegedly stabbed twice in the abdomen.

The 28-year-old Eatonsville man was treated at the scene before being taken to Grafton Hospital, then flown to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition.

About 8pm yesterday (Sunday 6 January 2019), the man died in hospital.

A 33-year-old South Grafton man who was arrested a short time after the incident was taken to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Today (Monday 7 January 2019), those charges have been upgraded to murder.

He is expected to appear at Grafton Local Court today (Monday 7 January 2019).
