NSW Police have arrested and charged a man as part of a national joint operation to target and disrupt the criminal activities of members and associates of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.
The National Day of Action, coordinated by National Task Force Morpheus, involved police from across Australia joining forces on Thursday, 3 December to conduct a series of coordinated search warrants and disruption activities targeting the Mongols OMCG.
Law enforcement agencies involved included Victoria Police, Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, Western Australia Police, Northern Territory Police, Queensland Police Service, South Australia Police and New South Wales Police Force.
Across Australia, 18 people were arrested, including Mongols office bearers, members and associates, and charged with a range of offences.
A number of items were also seized including firearms, drugs, cash following the execution of almost 20 search warrants nationally.
In NSW, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad and Australian Federal Police (AFP) – as part of the National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS), assisted by Strike Force Raptor, conducted a search warrant at a unit at Rhodes and Firearm Prohibition Order (FPO) searches at homes at Kellyville Ridge and Dee Why, from 6am on Tuesday (1 December 2020).
During the search of the Rhodes unit, officers seized more than $57,500 cash, cannabis, steroids, mobile phones and documentation.
A 26-year-old man was arrested and taken to Burwood Police Station, where he was charged with affray and possess prescribed restricted substance.
Police will allege in court that man was involved in a violent psychical altercation at a licensed premise at Rydalmere in October this year.
The man, who is a Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang (OMCG) member, was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday 19 January 2021.
During the search of the Dee Why home, officers seized $9000 cash, a ballistic vest, prescription medication and OMCG paraphernalia.
Investigations by the National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS) are continuing.
The National Anti-Gangs Squad (NAGS) was established in 2014 as a multi-agency law enforcement taskforce targeting organised criminal syndicates, including those involving members of outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMCG).
