Update 3: Officer injured by fleeing vehicle in Palmerston North

As stated by Superintendent Dion Bennett, Central District Commander:

I have an update to share on our injured colleague, after visiting the family yesterday.

He remains in the neurology ward at Wellington Hospital, where he is surrounded by his family and in the care of medical staff.

He sustained a traumatic head injury during the incident and although he is making progress, his recovery could take some time.

His treatment will be ongoing, and he will be moving to a specialist medical facility for head injury recovery.

His wider Police family continue to support him and his loved ones.

We appeal to both media and the public to give the family privacy and refrain from contacting them.
