Curtin takes centre court as major partner of HoopsFest Perth 2027

Curtin University has been announced as the official major partner of HoopsFest Perth 2027, strengthening its connection with Western Australia’s sporting community and bringing the University to one of the State’s biggest summer events.

HoopsFest will return to Perth from 13-17 January 2027, bringing all National Basketball League (NBL) teams to the city alongside Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL) games, community activities and a free fan festival in the heart of the CBD.

As the official major partner, Curtin will have a presence across the five-day festival, with interactive activities at the HoopsFest Fan Zone at Forrest Place and on-court activations at RAC Arena.

The partnership will give Curtin opportunities to connect with prospective students and their families in a fun, engaging environment, while celebrating basketball and the important role sport plays in bringing communities together.

Curtin University Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Matthew Tonts said the partnership was an exciting opportunity to connect with the community through a shared passion for sport.

“HoopsFest brings together elite athletes, passionate fans and families from across Western Australia, making it a fantastic opportunity for Curtin to connect with the community in a different way,” Professor Tonts said.

“We want to help create engaging experiences that bring people together. Sport has the ability to inspire people, build connections and open doors to new opportunities. We’re excited to be part of HoopsFest and to help make the 2027 festival an unforgettable experience for Perth.”

At Forrest Place, Curtin will have its own activation space within the free HoopsFest Fan Zone, with interactive games, competitions, prizes and opportunities for fans to get involved throughout the festival.

At RAC Arena, Curtin branding will feature across courtside LED signage, the stadium’s large screens and other in-game activities, giving the university a presence during NBL and WNBL games. Curtin will also have a dedicated activation during a Perth Wildcats game.

NBL Chief Commercial Officer Samantha Green said Curtin’s involvement in HoopsFest would create new opportunities to engage fans and the wider community.

“HoopsFest is about bringing basketball to life beyond the court, creating experiences that connect fans, families and communities with the game. Curtin University’s support as official major partner of HoopsFest Perth 2027 will help us keep growing the festival and deliver engaging experiences for fans across the five days,” Mrs Green said.

“Basketball unites people, from lifelong fans to first-timers. We thank Curtin University for coming on board, as they add another dimension to HoopsFest, and we look forward to creating memorable moments for fans and the wider Perth community.”

HoopsFest has quickly established itself as a major event on Perth’s summer calendar. The 2026 festival attracted 35,513 attendees to RAC Arena and 21,961 visits to the Fan Zone at Forrest Place, highlighting the event’s growing reach across the city.

The 2027 festival will combine five days of elite basketball with community activities and entertainment, giving fans of all ages opportunities to experience the game both on and off the court.

HoopsFest Perth 2027 runs from 13-17 January, with tickets available through the official HoopsFest website.
