National Reconciliation Week 2020

Today is the first day of National Reconciliation Week (NRW).

Each year NRW is 27 May to 3 June, following National Sorry Day. This year’s theme is ‘In this together’.

NRW is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving Reconciliation in Australia.

At Mitchell Shire, we acknowledge Taungurung and Wurundjeri as the Traditional Owners of the land and continue to work towards Reconciliation through our Social Justice Framework, but we know there is still work to be done.

We would usually hold events over this week, but like many others, we are unable to due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In lieu of local events, Reconciliation Australia has comprised a list of online events you can participate in.
