New Ambulance station for Beaconsfield

Jeremy Rockliff,Minister for Health

The construction of the new Beaconsfield Ambulance Station is now a step closer to being realised with a Request for Tender being released for the project.

We recognise that demand for emergency ambulance responses has been steadily increasing over the past few years which is why our Government remains committed to boosting health services in our rural and regional communities, including in the State’s North-East.

With an investment of $1.5 million, the new Ambulance Station will provide more space, which will enable more training opportunities, while providing improved disability access, garaging facilities, and the provision of suitable crew room facilities.

This new station will replace the existing site, which Ambulance Tasmania currently shares with the local hospital. We acknowledge the continued support from the hospital over the years.

Importantly, the new infrastructure will also improve the service’s response, training facilities for volunteers, and the general amenity of all users.

The new station will accommodate users to a high standard, including improvements in security, infection control, and the management of ambulance vehicles.

It is the latest investment by the Government to support ambulance service delivery in the region. In 2020, two additional paramedic positions were funded by the Government to enable a 24-hour rostering model.

Since coming to Government in March 2014, the Tasmanian Liberal Government has employed an additional 231 FTE employees at Ambulance Tasmania in Tasmania and we will continue to invest in our ambulance services and infrastructure so that Tasmanians can get the right health care in the right place, at the right time.

Tenders for the construction of the new Beaconsfield Ambulance Station close at 2pm on 11 May, 2022.
