New Appointment To Board Of Harness Racing Victoria

  • Minister for Racing

The Andrews Labor Government has appointed noted trots industry figure Judy Rothacker to the board of Harness Racing Victoria (HRV).

As president of the sport’s high-profile Angelique Club, Ms Rothacker is widely respected across the code and recognised for her deep knowledge of the industry and its participants.

Ms Rothacker also brings to the HRV role a broad range of experience in the education and rural sectors – she currently leads the rural enterprise Top Hundred Acres as part of a mother-daughter team which is passionate about sustainable farming.

Ms Rothacker is the daughter of legendary harness racing driver-trainer Gordon Rothacker, after whom the sport’s highest annual award is named.

Harness racing is an important industry in Victoria, generating $600 million for the economy annually and sustaining more than 4,300 full-time-equivalent jobs.

The code comprises 48 clubs with racing conducted at 28 tracks. There were 439 harness race meetings held across the state last financial year.

As noted by Minister for Racing Martin Pakula

“Judy Rothacker is a fantastic trots person and I’m sure she will make a valuable contribution to the HRV board.”

“Judy has for many years been a champion of women in harness racing and I’m sure she will continue this important mission in her new role.”
