A senior dispute resolution lawyer with over three decades experience in the profession has been appointed as South Australia’s newest magistrate.
Attorney-General, Vickie Chapman said Toni Vozzo had a strong background in handling complex legal matters and would make an excellent addition to the Magistrates Court.
“Toni Vozzo has worked in the legal sector for over 30 years, with a focus on commercial litigation and dispute resolution – and has been widely recognised as a leader in the field,” Attorney-General Chapman said.
“She has handled numerous, complex matters including class actions against Bank SA, and global ratings agency Standard & Poor’s, as well as multi-million-dollar commercial litigation.
“In addition to her commitment to her clients, Ms Vozzo has also improved practitioners’ access to wellbeing support services, through her work as the inaugural chair of the Law Society’s Wellbeing and Resilience Committee since 2012.
“She has also been actively involved as a member of the Indigenous Law Students’ Mentoring Scheme Committee since 2016.
“She is an exceptionally qualified candidate and I have no doubt she will make an excellent addition to the Magistrates Court.”
Ms Vozzo’s appointment fills a vacancy left by the retirement of Magistrate Alfio Grasso. She is due to commence in the new role on July 20.
