Three new CCTV cameras will be installed at Logan Village.
The new cameras will be funded by the Federal Government’s Community Development Grant Program.
City Lifestyle Committee Chairperson, Councillor Laurie Koranski, said the cameras would be installed at the intersection of North Street, Quinzeh Creek Road and Waterford Tamborine Road, Logan Village.
“The project will include the installation of a new pole and three CCTV cameras,” Cr Koranski said.
“It is now common practice for Council to install more than one camera type on a pole, this helps to ensure maximum visibility of the area being monitored.
“The new cameras will help to improve community safety in Logan Village and will provide an opportunity to increase confidence among the community as they use the open spaces and facilities in and around where the cameras will be installed.”
Federal Member for Wright, Scott Buchholz said he was very pleased to see the progress on the CCTV project.
“We know CCTV works, not only as a deterrent to anti-social and criminal behaviour, but it makes people feel safer.
“It also helps our local police find those people doing the wrong thing in the community.
“It’s great the Australian Government and Logan City Council have a strong working relationship to deliver these projects,” Mr Buchholz said.
The Logan Safety Camera Network has grown from eight cameras installed in Station Rd in Logan Central in 2001.
It now totals 234 monitored CCTV cameras.
The completion date for this project is October.
