New figures show cost of living continues to bite Tasmanians

Tasmanian Labor

Today’s ABS
retail trade figures
are further evidence that cost-of-living pressures are
biting Tasmanians hard.

Retail turnover
fell 3.7 per cent across the state as Tasmanians continue to tighten their
belts under a Rockliff Liberal Government.

Tasmania is in
the midst of a health, housing and cost-of-living crisis, yet the Liberals
continue to sit on their hands.

Instead of
providing meaningful assistance to businesses and households, it seems this
government would rather collect additional revenue to prop up its failing
budget.

Tasmanian Labor
has a policy of capping power price increases at 2.5 per cent each year for the
next three years which would help ease pressure on businesses and households.

Households
would be better off under our policy by around $500 a year and businesses would
save thousands of dollars.

The Liberals
need to wake up from their stadium dream and see the bigger picture.

When Tasmanians are doing it tough, it is reckless and irresponsible to propose spending more than $460 million on a stadium we don’t need.
