New Homes For Key Workers In Macquarie Park

Australian Treasury

Key workers from Macquarie University are set to move into new affordable housing with the opening of 130 new apartments in Macquarie Park, part of a 3,300 home development supported by the Albanese Labor Government.

These homes are part of the Midtown development, a new community which will feature 3,300 new homes including more than 1,000 new social and affordable homes.

The Albanese Labor Government’s Housing Australia helped to kickstart this development with more than $100 million to deliver these homes.

The Midtown development in Macquarie Park is well‑located and close to transport links, health services and a new school.

The Albanese Labor Government is focused on delivering more homes like this for Australians with an ambitious national target to build 1.2 million homes.

We’re working across Government and with territories and states like New South Wales to help meet this target.

The Albanese Labor Government’s $500 million Housing Support Program is now open for applications from state, territory and local governments for projects that will boost the planning required to increase housing supply.

Applications recently closed for the first round of funding for social and affordable homes under the $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund and the National Housing Accord.

The Albanese Labor Government has already delivered $610 million to New South Wales through the Social Housing Accelerator, which will help to build around 1,500 new social homes across the state.
