The Australian and ACT Governments’ commitment to deliver a new National Convention and Entertainment Centre has taken a major step forward, with a significant tender released to market.
The tender will appoint a specialist consultant team to develop the projects’ business case and initial reference design.
The team will develop a reference design for the new centre and undertake detailed planning to understand the project’s scope, costs, benefits, risks and delivery options.
The new National Convention and Entertainment Centre is a key component of the ACT Government’s long-term economic strategy, supported by the Australian Government.
It is intended to support the attraction of major conventions, business events, live entertainment and cultural activities to Canberra.
The project will also contribute to the ongoing transformation of the CBD, alongside other significant Australian and ACT governments’ investments in the precinct, such as light rail, the Canberra Aquatic Centre and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) city campus.
