New online social group for parents and cares of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Are you a parent or carer of a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) looking to meet new people?

We have started this new online social group with the hope of improving social connections and reducing social isolation for parents and carers of children with ASD in the Greater Geelong region. Maintaining existing and creating new social connections can be life-changing for this vulnerable group in the community.

The challenges faced on a daily basis by parents and carers of children with lifelong developmental conditions, such as ASD, can impact all aspects of life. Many factors, such as increased family stress, financial strain, sleep disruption and increased time spent taking children to medical and allied health appointments, can make it difficult for parents and carers to find the time or make routine changes to include activities that promote their mental health and well-being.

Held each Thursday afternoon from May 28 2020 and using an online meeting platform, this exciting new group will encourage participants to get to know one another, engage in weekly discussion topics, and provide the opportunity to share unique strengths and knowledge in a non-judgemental, supportive and friendly environment.
