The Tasmanian Government is committed to boosting health services in our rural and regional communities.
Today, the newest round of the Government’s 42 rural and regional paramedics commenced at George Town and Beaconsfield.
These paramedics boost our capacity in these stations and deliver 24-hour rostered paramedic coverage for the first time, alongside our volunteer ambulance officers.
With these six new paramedics (three FTE for each station), the Government has now delivered 24 new paramedics for rural communities since 2018.
George Town and Beaconsfield join the communities of Wynyard, Longford, St Helens, Bicheno, Deloraine and Dodges Ferry, all of which are now serviced by upgraded paramedic coverage.
These new paramedics will help to improve response times and reduce fatigue in our service, as well as provide more support for our incredible volunteer ambulance officers.
Our thanks go out to Ambulance Tasmania paramedics all over the state, who have been working incredibly hard during COVID-19 to ensure our community is safe and continually supported.
