Mitchell Shire Council wants your feedback on the Beveridge Recreation Reserve master plan and initial activation works.
Beveridge Recreation Reserve is a 10-hectare crown land reserve in the original township, focused around a natural spring.
Beveridge is rapidly transforming from a rural to a suburban area and urban development will impact on the Reserve’s usage, character, hydrology and natural values.
This district-level reserve requires a visionary landscape masterplan to guide its long-term use and development.
This will ensure Beveridge’s unique open space resource will act as local landmark and a focal point for enjoyment of diverse passive recreational activities and will protect and reveal the site’s natural and cultural values.
In addition to the masterplan, Council is working with the Victorian Government to undertake some initial activation works in the Reserve including a circuit path, boardwalk, playspace upgrade, new outdoor fitness equipment and minor enlargement of the tennis courts to provide multiuse tennis and netball courts. These works will be constructed in 2022-2023.
Council is seeking feedback from the community on both the draft masterplan and the initial capital works to ensure this large open space meets the needs of current and future residents.
The $1.36 million stage one works at Beveridge Recreation Reserve are made possible through $750,000 from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, $60,000 from the Local Sports Infrastructure Fund and $550,000 from Council.
