The City of Canada Bay will soon begin construction on two new playground upgrades at Chiswick Park in Chiswick and Henry Lawson Park in Abbotsford.
City of Canada Bay Mayor Michael Megna said the upgrades reflected Council’s ongoing commitment to improving open spaces and creating high-quality places for the community to enjoy.
“Our parks and playgrounds are some of the most important spaces in our community,” Mayor Megna said.
“They give families a place to come together, help children stay active and support the healthy, connected lifestyle that makes Canada Bay such a great place to live.
The Chiswick Park Playground upgrade will deliver a new playground with a multi-play unit featuring slides and climbing elements, a swing set, springer, balance trail and teepee.
The project will also include a new shade sail, landscaping with new trees and plantings, seating and picnic facilities, a water bubbler, park signage and a new concrete footpath connecting the playground to the existing pathway network.
At Henry Lawson Park, the new playground will feature a multi-play unit with slides and climbing elements, an inclusive swing set, in-ground trampoline, a rock-climbing structure, rocker and cubby house.
The Henry Lawson Park upgrade will also include new landscaping, a fully enclosed playground fence, new trees and plantings, and seating.
Mayor Megna said both projects would improve accessibility, safety and play opportunities for children and families.
“These upgrades are about creating welcoming, accessible and engaging spaces where children can play, explore and be active,” Mayor Megna said.
“Whether it’s new equipment, better shade, seating, landscaping or improved connections through the park, these projects will make a real difference for local families and visitors.”
Construction on both projects is expected to commence in mid-July 2026, with works anticipated to be completed this summer, weather permitting.
