The graduates were the first Townsville intake to complete the new Recruit Training Program of 34 weeks.

The recruit graduation ceremony, held at Townsville Stadium, celebrated the graduates’ efforts over the course of their training before they embark on their careers as FYCs.

Throughout their first year probationary period, the officers will rotate through their allocated stations to gain a broad exposure and opportunity to respond to a variety of policing situations.

The QPS has announced its largest ever recruitment campaign, with new incentives, including extra financial support for recruits training at police academies.

Commissioner Carroll congratulated the newest officers who are now sworn First Year Constables protecting and serving the people of Queensland.

“You have all walked different paths in life to get here, and you each bring your own unique experiences and talents to the Service,” she said.

“With backgrounds as diverse as school leavers, defence, science, and policing in other jurisdiction you each bring a range of backgrounds and experiences to the Service.

“You are the first intake to complete the new Recruit Training Program in North Queensland and as a Service, we are always looking to improve our training, to prepare you for policing – a job like no other.

“Your graduation is an important milestone, and I am confident that you will make a positive difference within your communities.”
