New Premier, same old Labor financial mismanagement

Liberal Party Victoria

The release of nearly 230 annual reports in the Victorian Parliament today has laid bare the dire state of Victoria’s finances under the Allan Labor Government.

The reports highlight financial deficits across a large number of key Victorian Government agencies and a further deterioration of Victoria’s financial position.

Furthermore, the Allan Labor Government has kept secret 50 annual reports, including Ambulance Victoria, Fire Services Victoria, the State Electricity Commission and the Victorian Building Authority, despite legislative requirements for these documents to be made public.

Leader of the Opposition, John Pesutto, said: “Victoria may have a new Premier, but it’s the same tired, incompetent and corrupt government that has sent the state broke.

“These reports show deficits as far as the eye can see and demonstrate not only Labor’s gross waste and mismanagement but their deliberate attempts to cover it up.”

Manager of Opposition Business, James Newbury, said: “The Labor Government has once again shamelessly dumped these reports in the Parliament today to avoid proper scrutiny and transparency. It’s also hidden a vast number of other reports.

“Instead of keeping Victorians in the dark, Labor must release these overdue reports so that Victorians can fully understand how their money is being spent and how the services they rely upon are being delivered.”
