New primary school for Burns Beach officially open

  • $18.3 million Burns Beach Primary School officially opened
  • The school will grow to accommodate more than 350 students from kindergarten to Year 6
  • New school to cater for the growing Burns Beach community
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery has today officially opened the newest primary school in Perth’s northern suburbs, delivering on a 2017 election commitment.

    Burns Beach Primary School welcomed more than 200 students into its new classrooms for the 2022 school year.

    Four teaching blocks are among the first-class facilities at the $18.3 million school, including a dedicated early childhood education block and a specialised art and science room.

    Facilities at the school also include an administration block, dental therapy facility, library, staff room, hard courts and playground.

    A $3 million education support facility is currently under construction on the school site that will provide an education support program for eligible students with disability from 2023.

    The specialist language program at Burns Beach Primary School is Auslan.

    The school’s vision is “Inspiring Heads, Hearts and Hands” and supporting students in all areas of their development.

    Its new buildings feature the Noongar names for head – Kaat, heart – Koort, and hands – Maara.

    As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

    “This impressive new facility in the popular coastal suburb of Burns Beach will provide students with outstanding spaces for learning, while easing pressure at surrounding schools.

    “The official opening of Burns Beach Primary school is an exciting moment for the school, which prides itself on the strong connections and partnerships that it has built with the local community.”

    As stated by Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard:

    “I’m very proud to have been involved in the McGowan Government’s delivery of this quality new primary school that will benefit local children and families for years to come.

    “From the new early childhood education block and specialised art and science room, to the playground and hard courts, it’s great to see these fantastic new facilities come to life as the first students begin their education at Burns Beach Primary School.”
