A new shared risk program to reactivate live performances and touring activity is opening soon, creating more opportunities for employment and venue activation in the arts industry, building on recent announcements about increased capacity limits for arts venues.
Getting the Show back on the Road will support a percentage of box office loss for performing arts and live music events when there is a negative impact due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The program eases the financial risks for performing arts organisations, live music producers and presenters, festival organisers and commercial event companies to stage or tour a show during this uncertain time. The grant program opens on November 3, 2020.
The Getting the Show back on the Road shared risk program is a part of the WA Recovery Plan’s $15 million package to reactivate live performances and touring activities.

As stated by Culture and the Arts Minister David Templeman:
“The arts sector has been hit hard by COVID-19, with physical distancing requirements and other measures impacting those putting on live shows and tours.
“The McGowan Government recognises the fantastic outcomes performing arts activities can foster in communities.
“Getting the Show back on the Road provides some certainty to producers and presenters by sharing the risk in undertaking activities with the current COVID-19 environment.
“It will do just that – get the show back on the road – to reignite economic activity in communities and for the industry.”
