New safety data from WorkSafe Tasmania

Madeleine Ogilvie, Minister for Workplace Safety and Consumer Affairs

The Rockliff Liberal Government is ensuring Tasmania is the best place to live and work with the release of WorkSafe Tasmania’s latest Industry Snapshots.

The Snapshots (reporting on 2022) are an easy to understand tool that workplaces can use to prevent and manage injuries and identify opportunities for work health and safety improvements.

Minister for Workplace Safety and Consumer Affairs, Madeleine Ogilvie said the Industry Snapshots demonstrate the importance of using data to improve the safety and wellbeing of Tasmanian workers.

“Our Government is focused on ensuring the safety and wellbeing of our workforce is paramount,” said Minister Ogilvie.

“The Industry Snapshots are vital for this by detailing safety performance data and trends in all industries across the state, comparing data from the current year to previous years and also between industries.

“They list safety performance data and trends in all industries across the state, comparing data from the current year to previous years and also between industries.

“In this way we know which areas we need to improve to make sure our workplaces are safe, productive, and stimulating.”

The Industry Snapshots also highlight the areas WorkSafe Tasmania will focus on with each industry to improve work health and safety performance, and to inform its strategic priorities and work with unions and employer associations to reduce injury rates in Tasmania.

The WorkCover Board Tasmania works with WorkSafe Tasmania to produce the Industry Snapshots each year.

One of the WorkCover Board’s regulatory functions is to collect and publish statistics and analyse data and trends to inform decision making and future strategies about work health and safety.
