New school facilities opened at Canning Vale College

  • One of 20 public secondary schools undergoing upgrades
  • McGowan Government election commitment delivered
  • Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery and Member for Southern River Terry Healy today opened the new and refurbished school facilities at Canning Vale College.

The $2 million upgrade, commenced in June last year, fulfils a McGowan Government election commitment.

The works include a modified extension to the existing boardroom, a new student services wing, covered walkways, new playing courts, and extra parking space for 20 cars.

The student services wing and playing courts will allow staff to provide high-quality education and care to more than 1,500 students.

This is one of 20 secondary schools that has been rebuilt or upgraded under the State Government’s public schools infrastructure package.

As stated by Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery:

“Students at Canning Vale College benefit from specialist teachers plus a variety of subject choices and these new facilities offer every child the best chance of achieving at the highest level.

“The upgrades to the student services wing will provide students with greater access to care and support from trained professionals and educators.”

As stated by Southern River MLA Terry Healy:

“Canning Vale College is an important school for local families and I am proud to deliver on my election commitment of $2 million towards making this school even better than it is.”
