New Year’s Eve at Bay – Regurgitator to ring in 2020

Australian rock band Regurgitator will join thousands of party-goers on Glenelg beach to celebrate the start of a new decade.

The Brisbane band, which racked up a series of hits and ARIA awards in the 1990s, will headline the entertainment line-up for the Glenelg New Year’s Eve party. They’ll be joined by DJ Jaki J, Adelaide’s hottest party band Mr Buzzy and kids’ entertainers the Boomstars.

For the first time, the stage will be set up on the sand, making for a true beach party.

The night’s free entertainment starts at 6pm with the first of the fireworks displays at 9.30pm at both Glenelg and Brighton beaches.

There’ll also be local musicians providing entertainment around Brighton beach as locals gather to celebrate a new year.

At midnight, the night sky will be lit up again with a second fireworks display off Glenelg beach. The celebrations continue into the New Year with Regurgitator to play an encore set after midnight.

“There’s no better way to celebrate the year that’s been, and to welcome a new year, than on a warm summer’s night at the beach,” City of Holdfast Bay Mayor Amanda Wilson said.

“The City of Holdfast Bay’s New Year’s Eve celebrations have become a tradition for families and we’re proud to host this community event for everyone to enjoy.

“We expect to attract more than 80,000 people to the beach at our celebrations at Glenelg and Brighton, with lots of free entertainment and of course, fireworks.

“We’re proud to be partnering with RAA to offer the Park and Ride free shuttle bus from Harbour Town to Glenelg, to make sure people can get to and from the celebrations safely.”

The RAA Park and Ride will offer free shuttle bus service between Harbour Town and Glenelg for New Year’s Eve. Park for free in Harbour Town with shuttle buses running to and from Wigley Reserve, Adelphi Terrace in Glenelg between 5pm and 1am.

Regurgitator formed in late 1993, their career highlights include studio album Unit in 1997 which was certified triple platinum and won five ARIA Award the year following. The band toured nationally this year as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations and will return to Adelaide for New Year’s Eve at the Bay.
